FINDINGS AND IMPRESSION
TECHNIQUE:
Standard frontal (PA) view.
FINDINGS:
There are bilateral perihilar infiltrates with patchy consolidation involving the right lower lobe. The costophrenic angles are blunted bilaterally, suggesting small pleural effusions.
The cardiac silhouette is mildly enlarged with a cardiothoracic ratio of approximately 0.55.
No pneumothorax is identified. The trachea is central. The bony thorax appears intact with no acute fracture.
The visualized osseous structures and soft tissues are otherwise unremarkable.
IMPRESSION:
1. Bilateral perihilar infiltrates with right lower lobe consolidation, consistent with community-acquired pneumonia.
2. Small bilateral pleural effusions.
3. Mild cardiomegaly — clinical correlation with cardiac history is advised.
RECOMMENDATION:
Clinical correlation with symptoms and laboratory findings is advised. Follow-up chest radiograph after completion of treatment is recommended to confirm resolution.
